The Allfin team had the privilege of attending the Australian Pharmacy Professional (APP) Conference and Trade Exhibition on the Gold Coast. As the largest pharmacy event in the Southern Hemisphere, APP once again delivered an outstanding event for industry professionals to connect, learn, and engage in meaningful discussions about the future of pharmacy in Australia.
From insightful keynote presentations to engaging panel discussions, the conference provided valuable perspectives on the landscape of pharmacy. It was fantastic to see such strong attendance and enthusiasm from pharmacy owners, suppliers, and industry leaders, all eager to discuss emerging trends and opportunities. One of the highlights for our Allfin team was the opportunity to engage in conversations with pharmacy owners about their financial needs and business growth strategies. Whether discussing funding solutions for acquisitions, expanding operations, or refinancing to secure better rates, we were only too happy to provide guidance and explore tailored financial solutions to help pharmacies succeed.
The recent conference also coincided with an important announcement from the Federal Government regarding a reduction in the prescription copayment. The new $25 fee for prescription medicines marks a significant step towards making essential medications more affordable for everyday Australians. The measure, expected to cost the budget $689 million, was welcomed by industry leaders, including Pharmacy Guild of Australia President Trent Twomey, as a move that will ease financial pressures and improve health outcomes.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has reaffirmed that Australia’s $18 billion pharmaceutical scheme is “not for sale” amid concerns that the US may soon target prescription medications for tariffs. The government remains committed to advocating for national interests and ensuring that Australians continue to benefit from fast access to new and affordable medicines.
We’re committed to supporting the pharmacy industry and are here to help with any finance needs or guidance you may require. Feel free to reach out to me or the Allfin team anytime.
